HELP! WHEN YOU NEED 911 RIGHT NOW

I hope none of you ever needs this information but I know better….someday, someone will want to know how to get the fastest response from a 911 call.  A friend of mine recently went from being a paramedic in the ambulance to dispatching.  Very interesting what she told me…..what the caller doesn’t know is that the dispatcher is a real multitasker.  While she is asking you questions that she HAS to ask, she is sending out the information to get the ambulance to you….but it doesn’t sound that way from your end of the phone.  What sounds like needless questions to a hysterical caller is verifications so help arrives as quickly as possible.  Addresses MUST be verified even though help is already on the way.  Call back numbers MUST be repeated so there is no drop in communications in this day of  bad cell phone coverage.  If you ever have to call 911 do so knowing that the dispatchers’ questions will help, not hinder.  Just to make the job harder a surprising number of people cannot remember their addresses…believe it or not.   Guru

YIKES!

The door-to-door boys of summer are back going door to door and selling burglar alarm systems to unsuspecting families on Oahu again and ripping them off while tying them to a 36 month contract.  Even worse,  they are telling people the Security One, Inc. is their service company!  We are getting calls from people who want us to cancel their contracts or fix their systems.   A complete lie and very much against the law.  They are operating under new names this year such as Frontier Security Solutions but the scam is the same.  Sell and install a system, get that monthly obligation in place and then disappear.   Beware!  Guru

THEY ARE PROS NOW

The day of the summertime bored kid burglars is over, folks.  The new breed are professionals,  working our neighborhoods with efficiency.  Burglars use cell phones to warn of police or you coming home.  Burglars  scope out a neighborhood days before and tag the mailboxes of those who are likely not to be at home.  They sweep through a neighborhood with a truck they can load up and then dump because it is stolen.  Burglars  target electronics and easily sold popular items or load up all your furniture depending on what they are most likely to get rid of quickly.  If you live on Oahu and  haven’t been hit yet you need to take heed and protect yourself with a monitored burglar alarm system.  This is the worst I have seen in the 20 years I have been working in the security business.  Guru

ASKING FOR A BURGLAR….?

Do you tweet? Do you Facebook? If you do, don’t tell it all. Burglars know that if you are out of town, and do not have an alarm system, your home is available for a rip-off. Go ahead and Tweet and Face away your plans to party and relax ONLY if you have a good burglar alarm system installed in your home. Otherwise, the bad guys have just way too much information about you. Be awake, be aware, be smart.

MORE DOOR TO DOOR BAD NEWS FOR THE HAWAII VICTIM

I got a call on Saturday from a woman looking for the Security One that installed a system for her a month ago. Unfortunately it was the bogus company that uses our names and leave the customer in the lurch. She got a “free” system however they neglected to tell her she needed a permit filed with the police. Her first alarm resulted in an $100 fine to the City and she is going to have to pay. Every time she has an alarm she is going to pay $100 until she files for her permit. All the local alarm companies take complete responsibility to see that their customers file these permits when they install a new system. There is really no excuse for what they did. In addition, she tells me they promised to come back to add her windows to the system and they have never even called her, nor can she reach the local representative. We were the only people she could find. She wants to cancel her account with them but I had to let her know that they have probably sold her account to the Monitronics mainland company and she will have to try to get them to cancel and best of luck to her. Believe me they will NOT want to let her go. They have a 3 year contract worth about $1,600 to them and no valid reason to cancel her.

I would like to help her but can’t unless she can cancel her contract and get the bogus company to come take it out. She spent most of Saturday trying to find someone to help her before she got to me. At least I was able to explain to her what she was into and what she might possibly do about it. I don’t know that she EVER reach someone at the alarm company and it would’nt surprise me if she didn’t.

Don’t be a victim of these guys. If you want the best alarm system you can get in Hawaii call us at Security One, Inc., 734-4374. It won’t be free of cost but it will be free of humbug!

True Story

It is 6:00 on the morning in Lanikai, Hawaii and a beautiful June day, perfect for an early run. She has a great Security One alarm system that she turns on every day and night but today she is only going to be gone for 30 minutes max so she doesn’t bother. As she goes out the gate she sees a man up the street but doesn’t think much about it. When she gets home her purse with her credit cards, driver’s license, all her keys and her remote for the alarm system, as well as some jewelry is gone. She cried on the phone when she called me to find out if I knew a good locksmith and what to do about her keyfob keypad. Just a few minutes can make such a difference in how you view life from now on.
